New Memento-Mori Design: Nothing Is Ever Wasted

black and white illustration memento mori art of skull with butterflies

Nothing is ever wasted. No pain weathered that does not later allow greater understanding and empathy, inspire change, or form bonds of endurance. Not to say pain is justified. Only that resilience and the eternally renewing and recycling nature of existence can and will find a way to make new life out of it.

Nothing falls apart, decays, for no good reason. Every scrap of what was becomes something new, either through labor and love into a new, better generation, through roots into fresh buds, or through butterfly bodies into wing ears that carry them halfway across the globe and into the paths of mates.

(Monarchs, among other butterflies, have been observed to drink fluids from carrion, absorbing minerals that they use in mating rituals and egg-laying.)

Nothing Is Ever Wasted will be released as a linocut print in this month’s online shop update Sept. 23rd, though available earlier for Patrons as well as in-person at the Punk Rock Flea Market Knoxville on Sept. 16th!

Be well, Stacia
