Inspired not by endangered species but the glorious hues found in fall, the Autumn Moth collection aims to bring the golden, glowing, and lovely to your home with harm-free paper entomology specimens.
Created from mulberry paper, bookbinder's thread, goache, watercolors, and ink, this Buck Moth represents a species native to oak forests. Touching them when in their caterpillar stage isn't a good idea, as the elaborate and beautiful hollow spines protruding from their bodies connect to poison sacks within their bodies that can cause allergic reactions. Because of this, it's not surprising that a main predator of buck moth caterpillars is actually a bacteria.
AUTUMN MOTH II: The Buck Moth is sold in a custom 4" x 6" shadowbox frame with archival mounting, and shatterproof, glare-reducing, UV-blocking Museum acrylic.
Payment plans available upon request; please reach out via email to beastieandbone@gmail.com if you are interested in this option!
