This limited-edition linocut was created in 2020 as part of the Beastie and Bone collection Horned & Wingéd, which explored and celebrated unusual species from around the globe. Despite the dark nickname it is sometimes called (“vampire deer”), the fanged and antlered muntjac is in actuality a small creature that grazes on undergrowth. The tusks grown by adult males are used primarily in fights over territory and potential mates, and rarely pose a threat to humans unless the animal feels threatened.
 
Vampire Deer II is hand-printed on recycled-cotton watercolor paper with water-based ink, and framed in real wood frame with archival mounting and glare-reducing, UV-blocking Museum Glass. Exterior of frame measures 18 3/4" x 21 1/4"
